Elektra is a highly sophisticated, redesigned Full Dual Mono DAC with the latest and most special components used today. Elektra is based on 8 latest generation AKM DAC chips (4 per channel) in Dual Mono with fully discrete Class A output stages. Our digital team consists of highly skilled engineers who have worked in digital design for years and in collaboration with our analog team have set themselves one goal! To push the boundaries of what can be achieved in digital reproduction today, using cutting edge technology, very high quality components, without compromise! To create a digital to analog converter that can perform at the level of all Pilium products!
A custom USB receiver has been designed and implemented (no OEMs here), a custom re-clocking technique has been used, with only 1 (!) software programmable femtoclock for exceptional accuracy, 10 ultra-low noise (fully discrete) power supplies have been used in conjunction with the latest and greatest linear regulators and a large power supply (94,000 µF/channel), achieving an extremely low output impedance. The low frequency noise floor is very low and commendably free of significant power supply related artifacts. The low noise floor and excellent channel separation measurements are also unusually good, confirming that the Elektra is powered by ideal pre-regulated power supplies with very complex local power supplies.
All of this is implemented on optimized medical grade PCBs. The result is very, very low jitter measured at the output of the device (!). In terms of connections, you'll find all the available AES/EBU, BNC, SPDiF (with ASRC support), USB (32-bit 384kHz, DSD 256) inputs and XLR or RCA outputs, selectable from our 5.2" capacitive touchscreen, plus a choice of filters. Elektra uses 3 encapsulated transformers (ultra-low-noise audio grade), one for each audio channel and one just for non-audio auxiliary functions.
